What factors will impact enterprise network design and implementation in 2018? To find out, we surveyed more than 700 enterprise IT professionals about what drives, supports or inhibits their WAN transformation projects.

What we found was that all too many IT leaders are faced with the rising complexity of their networks. It’s not just they’re expected to reduce costs by migrating from MPLS services to inexpensive and unsecure Internet connectivity.  Alone that would be challenging, often necessitating a rethinking of network security architectures. But simultaneously, they’re being tasked with expanding the scope of the WAN to include cloud datacenters, cloud applications, and mobile users. Existing management and connectivity tools are often discrete, leading to redundancies, knowledge gaps, and process inefficiencies all of which undermine IT’s goal of being more efficient and agile.

In this global survey and industry report, we examine the impact of these changes, addressing key issues impacting SD-WAN and WAN transformation efforts including:

  • The major drivers for networking transformation
  • The benefits expected and realized by SD-WAN adopters
  • Insight into how SD-WAN adopters view SD-WAN appliances and services
  • Which cloud datacenter services and applications are most prevalent among enterprises
  • The types of security architectures enterprises are evaluating for protecting cloud resources and mobile users
